Marie’s love and passion for dance comes naturally. As the daughter of Pat Guidry Hebert, who established Hebert Dancentre in 1947 in Opelousas, LA., Marie started dancing at a very young age.
After being under her mother’s tutelage during her early years, Marie began teaching for her mother at age 15. She spent her summers traveling extensively throughout the United States with her mother and 4 sisters. They studied at dance conventions and workshops in locations such as: Miami, San Francisco and Houston. Still today, she enjoys attending workshops with her sisters and daughter, Elizabeth.
After graduating high school Marie attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA where she majored in dance and enjoyed being on the gymnastics and dance teams.
After college Marie moved from her hometown, Opelousas, to Minden with her husband, Scotty, where they opened the doors of Wise Dancenter. Along with being a business owner in Minden, Marie has served her community by being a member of the Jr. Service League. She has also helped write and produce plays for their local elementary schools and was a member of the Young Women’s Service Club, where she directed many Miss Minden opening productions.
She has taught and coached Miss Minden contestants over the years, including many talent winners. In 2006 Marie was a personal advisor and trainer to Jamie Wilson who was crowned Miss Louisiana. In recent years Marie has been involved in teaching high school and junior high dance line camps.
